The night was so long

This post has to be dedicated to Fever Ray. Fever Ray concists of Karin Dreijer Andersson which is half of my favourite music group The Knife and now she just recently came out with a solo album which goes by the name Fever Ray.

It sounds almost exactly like The Knife but maybe a bit slower. But the dark tones and funky beats are still there and the lyrics will just blow you away. The best thing about The Knife and Fever Ray is that its not about the image of the artist, its really more about the music and the art around it. Like their new videos for example. They will probably not be played all the time on MTV but they have a really good artistic value to it which i really respect. Their first video If I had a heart almost doesnt even feature the singer herself, except for a short amount of time where she is wearing tons of make-up to look like a skull. These videos and music inspire me and makes me wanna create create create! Thank YOU Karin Dreijer Andersson!

The pic at the top is an x-ray image of my teeth and jaw that I scanned and made a montage of.

Best artists right now: Fever Ray, Jonathan Johansson, Anna Ternheim and Antony and the Johnssons. Strange enough, all Swedish :D. NOT! Correction from C - Antony and the johnssons are americans! :) What was i thinking?!.. :P

En fjärdedel av mitt liv

It was raining today which I welcomed with open arms and wohoos!

Todays intro to drawing class wasnt so exhilarating unfortunately. We made drawings with pencil and charcoal of big sqaures, pyramids and big white round thingys. It reminded me of that Graphic Design foundation class i had last semester where we only made technical drawings and shading of rectangles, tubes and round thingys. Buuuut i still really like the class and next week we are going to have a model again which is more fun to draw. I dont like to draw those objects, its soo still and flat but i got some good training drawing with charcoal anyway.

Lets see if i can scan some of the stuff i did in class some day. We had some homework due today which i showed to my teacher and then she instantly recognised my Moleskine notebook i use for class and said it was very very good. The notebook i mean. :D

On the Internet, Day 2:

It's amazing. Tonight I had documentary-and-junkfood-night, like every normal person have. Coz noow, as i think i said in the previous post, i can download shit!

I can also google or wikipedia everything that pops in my mind all of a sudden! And believe me, thats a lot of stuff. Speaking of, when i was visiting Caroline, something suddenly popped up in my head; Can Vampires survive on the swedish (?) dish Blodpudding? Blodpudding literally translates to blood pudding but its not really a pudding i think? It consists of pigs blood, flour and a whole lot of other nasty sounding things i dont know how to translate; ( svinblod, mjölk, rågmjöl, späcktärningar, öl eller svagdricka och sirap, och kryddas med lök, kryddpeppar och mejram, according to Wiki.)

So anyway, we have this awesome srevice in Sweden which is called 118 100 where you can ask just about ANYTHING and they will give you a good reply. So we sent a text to them if vampires could survive on blodpudding and this is what they replied:

Vampires can survive [on it], absolutely. Blodpudding contains every nutrition that vampires need, but its not sufficent enough to fulfill the every need of a vampire, which is fresh blood in liquid form, so therefore he can get a little cranky.
Isnt that AWESOME? :D

a ghost in my phone

Internet is back! Hallelulja!

What have I done lately, hmm. Not much actually. Or i have been drawing and painting a lot. I've been going to school which is pretty good, im enjoying my classes.

Yesterday me and gordon moved the grey beast out of our apartment! The grey beast was a big computer desk that the previous person living here had left, and it took so much space in the livingroom so now we actually have a real livingroom, a neat and tidy livingroom.

Oh yeah, yesterday, the 15th of march, it was mine and Carolines 1 month anniversary haha :) just sad that i couldnt be there with her and celebrate it but there should be more anniversarys coming so thats ok. but still!

I've also seen one of the best sit-com shows ever!! The Big Bang Theory! Ive watched the first season and everything thats out from the second season. its so nerdy and fun. It has also been the closest thing to science stuff ive had because the internet havent been up so i havent been able to go on my science sites or download any interesting documentaries, even though they just talk about science-y stuff in the show :D

I've also been playing a lot of xbox 360 because gordon bought Left 4 Dead hehe, which is such a cool zombie-multiplayer-running-around-in-infested-cities-shooting-the-crap-out-of-zombies-kind-of-game :) it's almost got everything you need; zombies, and guns! I think ive wasted at least 6000-10 000 zombies! :D

Yesterday when i went to the gas station close by to recharge my phone, i found a POSTBOX! Wihch is like a minute from here! :D before i didnt know there was one close by so i went to the school or went all the way down on beaufort street (5 min bus ride) to go to the postoffice. Do i feel stupid now ey? ... not really! but i also found a thai restaurant! The Orchid. Im hoping they have "nam prick kapit". It's like a paste u dip or put on ur rice or veggies.

It's hot as hell also, but i think its officially autumn now so soon it should cool down a bit aaaaaand go back to wintertime!! so Sweden-Perth will only have 6 hours of time difference instead of eight as now.

I've been feeling pretty good lately. Except for the heat and the fact that my better half is on the other side of the world things are looking pretty good here.

we are the definition of cute. its true, look it up, page 329.

My life in art

I like my classes :) Well most of them anyway. One is gonna be really hard and that is only because we have to do an presentation. I have Landscape photography, Photo history (which includes taking pictures also), Photo journalism and Introduction to drawing. The intro to drawing was really fun coz we painted with ink, pencil and charcoal. We paint really big also which is kinda new for me.
In other news, I really dislike Telstra. Telstra is like one of the biggest telecompanies in Australia but they still have problems finding our apartment and installing a landline. Two times they have gone to the wrong apartment! TWO TIMES! Now we have booked them for a third time which is ridiculous. They claim that them have come by but even though we had our door open the second time, all day and even though we've had people in the living room where the frontdoor is located they havent showed up, or called us even though they have our number.
Soo, the third time they will either fuck us over again, or show up, will be on Tuesday morning. The reason we are getting a landline btw is because we need it to use internet. Forget "två hål i väggen" over here. Perth is like ten years behind or something.
This week we've had like tons of bugs and disgusting stuff. Cockroaches and other evil things have been lurking around our apartment. It's so nasty but i dont know where they are coming from (only two roaches so its not thaaat big of a deal) but i think they've slipped in through our door or balcony. Coz its really clean in our apartment so i dont think its because it would be dirty.
I wish my better half was here so I could get some comforting hugs, huuu dang this place and dang, i miss her alot.
But its not all bad, errr... i like some people here, the weather isnt that bad, Gordon have a water purifier which purifies the nasty water here so thats good, i like our apartment, its cheaper to get around.. and yeah.. cool stuff :P

Eyes and hands

When I was visiting Caroline, she showed me how to properly paint with aquarell paint. We both ended up doing eyes in our own different styles and ways and it came out pretty good I think. She's really talented and makes the best eyes. It was a really nice time and one of my bests memories from that visit. We didnt have to say much but could just sit and paint and listen to some really good music. It was good! <3

Thumb fat

And now I'm back in Perth...

It's hot as hell and Ive been sick all weekend. Havent used internet until now (sunday) and just to walk over here was a struggle because i was so tired haha. Damn that cold, sore throat and headache!

School is beginning tomorrow again. Its gonna be alright i think im studying courses that are pretty good so hopefully ill enjoy them.

The planeride here was also a struggle. It lasted from Tuesday till Thursday. first one hour to helsinki, and then 12 hour wait there. So i walked around, ate, slept, read, ate some more, used internet etc etc. Then a nine and a half hours to Bangkok where I had a 10 hour wait. But that wasnt so bad actually, i finished reading Carrie which was really good, i really need to see the movie also.

Then i arrived thursday morning and josh picked me up from the airport.

Feels weird to be back. But let see how long Im gonna stay here...

New. Change. Light.

Aaaahh, Sweden :).

The cold. The empty look on peoples faces on the subway. The snow and the forrests. The bread and little stuff we put on the bread for breakfast. The internet. The food. Cars going on the right side of the road even though I'm looking in the wrong direction. I'm loving it.

I've also met many of my awesome friends and a very special someone (hello C) :D. I've found some really nice bars and places to chill out on and for the first time in yeeears I feel at home in Stockholm.

One week left now, which is really sad. But I will be back again soon and darnit to hell, I'm gonna enjoy that even more than I did this time :).

but not in me

I feel the cold fresh air coming into my lungs again and I start to smile as I'm walking down the hill from my house. Everything looks exactly as it used to look.

The little shortcut through the forest is still there, the different paths that lead to the other suburbs still cut through the saturated grassfield and the little houses next to it still have the same colour scheme as they had when I was young, light yellow, white and light pink. The gravel they put on the streets during winter makes the familiar scratching sound as they roll under my shoes when I step on them.

It's a comfortable feeling of recognition but when you look carefully you'll notice the smaller changes, the details. I love to spot change though, in people and places. Everything changes over time and many times it's very inspiring to see. It can also be very intimidating to see change, especially when (of course) its about things or people you don't want to change...

I'm home now, back from the other side of the world and I'm finally so much closer to something real than ever before.

New Era

So I have finally moved to my own place in Mount Lawley. The place is fantastic. Balcony, awesome bathroom, two bedrooms and a really nice kitchen and a living room. The apartment is really bright and cozy and I really feel at home there. The only thing Im missing now is internet so for the time being I have to go to uni and use internet but its okey.

I have also bought a new Moleskine journal, my fourth one now and I'm still as obsessed with it . Unpacked it yesterday and got a really good wiff off the nice new pages :D Smells really nice actually hahaha. My housemate Lisa mustve thought I was more weird then usually.

I feel that im have come to a new stage of my life, with the new apartment and everything. Things are good and soon I'm heading to Thailand and then back home to Sweden. Gonna be great to see everyone again. Heres some pictures from the new crib.

The above picture is my first use of tracing lines on my drawing in Adobe Illustrator which worked out kinda good, then applying it in Photoshop on a photo i've taken in Mandurah.

jag flyger upp och ner

A letter I wrote for to Caroline a month ago. Scanned the letter and put it on a nice old texture I found somewhere (?), made it more dirty and old looking, added pictures I've made inspired by her. Scanned flowers from outside my apartment and put some song lyrics in it also and finally made it into a little booklet. The white and blue pictures on the package is just paper I cut from a design magazine as wrapping paper. The package contained a a Wire in the blood t-shirt and a really cheesy fanpic of one of the actors from the show lol :D In the pic I've included some of the pages from the booklet.

I'm moving to my new crib on Wednesday! It's gonna be good but I wont have any internet there so I'll probably gonna appear to be dead But I'm not. I'll be back!

What I'm looking for

The first session features some of the photos I shot with my friend Veronica in the little beach suburb Cottlesloe. I had to feature at least three different garments but I choose also to have at least three different locations for that shoot. Joshua was with us to assist me with the flash.

The second series of photos features the WAAPA-dancer Alissa (Wester Australian Academy of Performing Arts). On this shoot I worked together with a fashion design student; Anita Gadenne who had made these really cool dresses. So the assignment was to showcase her dresses in a way that suited her and my taste.

Alissa was the perfect model for this shoot coz i really wanted to show the dresses in a "flowing" kind of way. I first had thought to use a ordinary model from the agency and to shoot it at the Art Gallery. But when that model didn't show up because of some miscommunication with the agency we had to cancel that shoot, which was really sad because the Art Gallery would also have been a perfect location to show off Anita's dresses. But it worked out anyway, I'm pretty pleased with the result anyway and I think Anita was pretty satisfied also.

This third batch of pictures is from my Images & Narratives assignment where we had to tell a story with text and pictures. Or at least with pictures. First I an idea that was about this character going to the European Space Agency's radio telescope (Space :P) close to New Norcia and his dream of coming as close to space as he could right now.

But I ended up doing another idea I got and did like a mystery novel containing pictures and journal entry's in this character Henry Bukowskis journal. Above is just a few pictures from the 23 double page spread story. I tried to make it as "multimedia" as possible by using photos, drawings, notes, maps, real letters sticky taped on the pages itself and other things. I also wanted to make a homepage for it which would've the reader be a part of the story even more but unfortunately I didn't have time for that.

Right now I'm forcing myself to drink this weird lemonish tea I got from my nice house mate Emma. I'm having a nasty cold and I'm on day three now which really annoys me. It disturbed my "going-on-a-walk-each-day-schedule" and some other stuff I really had to do.

OH by THE way. I'm moving out on December third! Me and some other people living in the village got a nice little letter a few weeks ago saying that we couldn't live in the student village anymore because we had lived there to long now and had had the village "experience". But on the same day as we got the notice Gordon found a really nice apartment that his friend was gonna leave behind. Sooo, me and Paige who also got kicked out, got to move into that apartment because Gordon could live here in the village next semester coz he's a newbie compared to me and Paige who have stayed here since mid 2007. But anyway, It feels great to finally have an own place to live in. We have a balcony also and it's really close to the liquor store and a supermarket :D.

Movie of the Month: Into the Wild.

After graduating from Emory University, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandons his possessions, gives his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhikes to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters that shape his life.

Read about the real story here. It's really interesting and a bit sad.

PS: Oh yeah, my website was up for a few days, or maybe just one as you may have noticed. The owner Uber.com went bankrupt or something some days after I joined them. WHAT ARE THE ODDS?!
