Oh deer!

From sketch to finished product, not more than 4-5 hours. I'm Happy! Why the deer? I dont know really, i really felt that i needed to do one. A startled deer would be nice i thought and i havent done animals for a very long time. I always did when i was young though. I did airplanes and animals. That was my thing. My favourite airplanes to draw were fighter jets or old war planes and my favourite animal to draw was the gazelle. Oh yeah i did battlefields with underground hospital bases also. Quite fascinating :p

I've have also finished reading Naiv.Super. and it was an excellent little adventure. Easy to read, very interesting and it's written in a fun way that makes it appealing to anyone who has ever been in his or her mid-twenties. I highly recommend it!

It's Shining

Before i started on Naiv.Super. i finished reading Stephen Kings The Shining. It has been a long read coz i've been so lazy to find time and read it but now recently i've began to go to bed earlier and catch up on my reading. When i was i Hong Kong i bought Stanley Kubrick's movie version of it and i also found Stephen Kings own version that he made coz he wasn't pleased with Kubricks version. So i have saved those to dvds to watch till after the book was done, and now it is. So a few days ago i started the extravaganza by watching Kings version.

His version was alot more like the book is, both how the characters behaved and spoke but also how all the scenes played out. But i am going to say that Kubricks version is a lot more scary than Kings version is. Which is also because in Kings version, the actors aren't really that good and even though its much more like the book it feels a whole lot more cheesier. While Kubricks movie is more of a interpretation of the source material and more focused on being a so much more scary.

Two minor details about this is:
  • Stanley Kubrick and Stephen King, SAME initials; S.K (creeeepy).
  • The particular edition of The Shining i own once belonged to a girl named Susanna. It was a Christmas gift from her grandmother in 1984 (which is also the year i was born) and i would guess she lived on the island of Gotland outside Sweden, coz that is where i bought the book for 10 crowns (approx 1½ aus dollars) on a flee market. (I got this info from the first page in the book).
I've saved Kubricks version for this moment, to have read the book and be able to compare it to Kings version and that moment have finally come. Off course i've seen it before but that was years ago and now its gonna be very interesting to see it again. It's gonna be a great moment in my life :D

Even numbers

Im reading a book called Naiv.Super. by Erland Loe, it was a gift I got from Carro. Its already one of my favourite books and im getting closer to the end now. The author have really written it like it was a diary, or as if the main characters thoughts were poured onto the pages so it almost feels like your are reading ur own diary. Not just because the way it is written but also what he writes about. The book is about a young man trying to find consistency in life. It's about a ball, a good friend, a bad friend, a hammer peg board, a girl, a scientist and an invitation by his older brother to New York.

Speaking of gifts, i also got a n AWESOME painting she made, a cd with tons of music and a letter from her. The painting looks like this:

Yesterday a bunch of us went to Subiaco for a random photoshoot, the pics are here to be seen. The rest of the weekend was spent in Freo on a birthday dinner for Stanley and Nicky and then on to a birthday party in the village. All in all, it was good.

Oh yeah, the first picture is from a shoot i had with Nicky last semester.
