Violence

We do these kind of stuff in my Graphic Design Foundation class. Or most of the part we sketch and do perspektive drawing but this weeks homework was to paint with Gouache and Pastel-colour which i hadnt tried before. Liked the gouache colour very much coz it became much stronger than watercolour and didnt go pale after it tried. Hard to see on the pictures above but ive used alot of water to get the light colours in those.

EDIT: After seeing some of the others work of this homework on todays class, my really sucks!! but that's okey coz i haven't done this stuff before and they're all graphic design students and I'm here to learn :).

Today I got a great nostalgic moment when i found a tv-show that i watched when I was younger. I found this list of: Top Ten 80's theme songs, and this show was numer one and when it started to roll i immediacy recognised it, memories came back and everything felt great haha.

I watched a lot of American tv-shows when i was younger coz we had The Childrens Channel (TCC) and a bit later on; Cartoon Network. Which was really good coz i learned alot of English by watching that. But yes i also watched the ordinary stuff on SVT and other stuff, Bumbibjörnarna (Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears), The Smurfs, Trasdockorna (The Raggy Dolls), the one that was about the blood cells, viruses and people who lived inside the body to teach you how the body worked in different situations but i cant remember its name...

But the ones that i truly remember and attracted me was the animated american action-shows like G.I. Joe, Transformers and M.A.S.K. Ive listed the theme songs from each show and just listen, its fantastic, genius, still awe-dropping, exciting and fun:

And the one that triggered my flashback of nostalgia was Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors:

Just listen to that synth in the background!! (dutidutidutidutidblipblapblipblipblipdutidutiduti)

So much violence, but I love it. Yeah, still! (The worst thing is that i thikn ive written about this a few years ago, but what the hell, cant rmb everything :p)

What tv-shows affected you the most when you were growing up?

EDIT:

The show that i couldnt rmb its name, was...Once upon a time... Life!

There was also a SPACE-version of this show, listen to the funky theme song here.

På en rulle!

Made it a week or more ago and then finished it tonight after "Oh Deer". Phew.. now I'm tired. Time to go to sleep soon but first im going to watch the ending of The Shining by Kubrick. Then its read-n-sleep-time. Class from 1.30-8.30 tomorrow. Gonna be long and tiring. Goodnighty!

(I got inspired by the song "Málfur Skinnytoe Junior" by the icelandic artist Kira Kira.

The lyrics are:

"Fog slithers through his nostrils, inside him, what a personality that fog is..."

It was also inspired by the songs; Dracúla Darling and Kittens in his pocket also by Kira Kira.)

Oh deer!

From sketch to finished product, not more than 4-5 hours. I'm Happy! Why the deer? I dont know really, i really felt that i needed to do one. A startled deer would be nice i thought and i havent done animals for a very long time. I always did when i was young though. I did airplanes and animals. That was my thing. My favourite airplanes to draw were fighter jets or old war planes and my favourite animal to draw was the gazelle. Oh yeah i did battlefields with underground hospital bases also. Quite fascinating :p

I've have also finished reading Naiv.Super. and it was an excellent little adventure. Easy to read, very interesting and it's written in a fun way that makes it appealing to anyone who has ever been in his or her mid-twenties. I highly recommend it!

It's Shining

Before i started on Naiv.Super. i finished reading Stephen Kings The Shining. It has been a long read coz i've been so lazy to find time and read it but now recently i've began to go to bed earlier and catch up on my reading. When i was i Hong Kong i bought Stanley Kubrick's movie version of it and i also found Stephen Kings own version that he made coz he wasn't pleased with Kubricks version. So i have saved those to dvds to watch till after the book was done, and now it is. So a few days ago i started the extravaganza by watching Kings version.

His version was alot more like the book is, both how the characters behaved and spoke but also how all the scenes played out. But i am going to say that Kubricks version is a lot more scary than Kings version is. Which is also because in Kings version, the actors aren't really that good and even though its much more like the book it feels a whole lot more cheesier. While Kubricks movie is more of a interpretation of the source material and more focused on being a so much more scary.

Two minor details about this is:
  • Stanley Kubrick and Stephen King, SAME initials; S.K (creeeepy).
  • The particular edition of The Shining i own once belonged to a girl named Susanna. It was a Christmas gift from her grandmother in 1984 (which is also the year i was born) and i would guess she lived on the island of Gotland outside Sweden, coz that is where i bought the book for 10 crowns (approx 1½ aus dollars) on a flee market. (I got this info from the first page in the book).
I've saved Kubricks version for this moment, to have read the book and be able to compare it to Kings version and that moment have finally come. Off course i've seen it before but that was years ago and now its gonna be very interesting to see it again. It's gonna be a great moment in my life :D

Even numbers

Im reading a book called Naiv.Super. by Erland Loe, it was a gift I got from Carro. Its already one of my favourite books and im getting closer to the end now. The author have really written it like it was a diary, or as if the main characters thoughts were poured onto the pages so it almost feels like your are reading ur own diary. Not just because the way it is written but also what he writes about. The book is about a young man trying to find consistency in life. It's about a ball, a good friend, a bad friend, a hammer peg board, a girl, a scientist and an invitation by his older brother to New York.

Speaking of gifts, i also got a n AWESOME painting she made, a cd with tons of music and a letter from her. The painting looks like this:

Yesterday a bunch of us went to Subiaco for a random photoshoot, the pics are here to be seen. The rest of the weekend was spent in Freo on a birthday dinner for Stanley and Nicky and then on to a birthday party in the village. All in all, it was good.

Oh yeah, the first picture is from a shoot i had with Nicky last semester.

But you can really see me

Random drawing became Angelina Jolie, sort of. At least her lips haha.

My old room mate Veronica came by today and gave me two postcards from her brother James, who sings and plays the guitar in Ancient Free Gardeners. They made postcards out of the album cover i made for them. Really cool to see them being printed :)

After my graphic design class i have tomorrow (thursday), my weekend officially starts, i cant wait!

Speaking of my classes. I have made myself an art-class-kit, ooor officially called A.C.K or also AC-Kit. I needed to have some sort of pencil case so i went looking for one and fortunatley my friend Ira found me one when we were in the city the other week which was exactly what i was looking for. Sleek, simple and sturdy! Yes, stuurrdy. After that i bought really good pencils, a sharpener, erasers and rulers to be prepared, which i love to be. Ladies and homeboys, i give you..THE ACK:

These tales of our stay

Attempt number 3 to write something meaningful and interesting:

...I always end up sitting here in front of the computer, trying to summarize everything thats been in my mind lately but then i end up writing some really uninteresting event story instead. I think i feel too exposed on this blog to write something really really honest. The same goes for my art i show here, i feel to exposed to show my art the really means something to me but im gonna try to start showing those stuff too more. Sometimes i actually feel ashamed of what i draw/shoot just because they are very private thoughts and ideas drained on paper/photographies. So from now on im just gonna post whatever it is and not care so much what people think. Phew, feels good to get that out :D

So to celebrate this enlightenment i start with this picture above i made a few days ago.
