Allur heimurinn óskýr

En ég stend alltaf upp

Start of this post with some newly edited pictures from this semester. The first one is taken a few weeks ago here in my house, Phoebes old chopped up teddybear infront of my grandparents old draw, mirror and small things. The second ones are from the shotI had with Sandy. It was for my latest Studio Work assignment but I couldnt use the pics unfortunatly coz my borrowed Metz flash didnt work properly, but they made pretty good use for my portfolio anyway.

The desert pictures are from The Pinnacles trip me and some friends went on a couple of months ago and the last one is just a random pic i took in school.

So whats up now? Im going to Hong Kong in january :D YAY! To visit Phoebe for a couple of weeks and go directly to Perth from there. Its gonna be suuuuperfun :D

And now? Im broke, trying to get a half decent job and make it through christmas and news years eve. Yikes!

The struggle continues

EDIT: This pic is from a long walk i had in Stockholm with Emilia. We walked from Kungsholmen to Södermalm where we found a pretty ok libanese (or italian) Cafe where we could spend a few hours talking about everything. After that we walked back but took a different route. We walked by Gamla Stan but went where on the bridge where the trains are going between T-centralen and Gamla Stan. Dont walk there often at all so it was pretty nice. We also discovered that someone had posted like pages from his or her diary of some sort on an electric box, like a physical blog in the real world? Pretty interesting, if i had the time i would have read more but it was some weird stuff in there...

Make time fly

The above pictures are from my first project in Photo Work. Me and Marcus went to the Airport(s), the domestic and the international one to take some good pictures for the assignment. You rarely see pictures taken on airports today because of the tight security airports have after 9/11. They even followed us and stared at us during the time we where there but never stopped us. I have finally gotten time to edit some of the pictures from there.

This picture above is from Perth and it's just a random building, but it's my favorite random building in Perth. :)

Well, the semester is over and I'm back in Sweden. Felt kinda sad coming here. The first thing I see when i land in Sweden is the darkness and the crappy weather. Hurray for Scandinavia!

The second thing I notice is how quiet Sweden is. 400 people are standing in line waiting for the passport control. It's almost dead quiet, except a Finnish person talking with a really loud "raspig" voice, you know, how all Finnish people talk :p. Some swedish guy is trying to say something to his girlfriend, he whispers. Another person is talking to his wife, he talks really quiet and you can see on his face that he dont want to disturb anyone. A Thai woman tries to say something to her Swedish husband, unhearable. And it continues...

Something else I have noticed that I have written about earlier. I find it really funny that so many tourist say that Swede's are nice. Yeah many swedes are well-mannered, and yeah a bit nice. But are we actually that nice compared to other countries? Australian people, they are NICE. They are not afraid of talking to strangers on the train/bus, they actually greet you and ask you how's your weekend been, or going to be, when going into stores. Of course many of them don't really care but most of the times it's not about caring or not, it's just in their nature to small talk more than we do.

They actually say "thank you" to the bus driver when they get off. I find that amazing, the bus driver still gets respect for driving people around.

Another thing is that they have cops in every corner, which makes you feel much safer than in Stockholm e.g. We have so few cops in Stockholm that we have to rent the security guys that couldn't become cops. And most of the time they don't even make you feel safe. It also seems like people just have more respect for things, people and places in Australia. I couldn't see much graffiti or vandalism in Perth except the usual small tags on bus chairs people make. But except that, not so much at all in the city.

What went wrong in Sweden that made us so caught up in our own little worlds? Why are we so afraid and what happened to respecting other people?

This is Phoebe :) aka Bei aka Chan Cho Yan, we are together :D

Pictures

Just wanted to post these pictures. I have to write an essay that is due tomorrow, mega crap. I have handed in my last two assignments for Studio Work (above) and Photo Work, this is the last week, I only have an exam at november 14th and on nov 20th I'm ocming home!

I will post the Photo Work pics later and give you an update on whats been happening down here.

This is from downtown Perth when me and Zura tested the Metz Flash and took some random pictures.

This next picture, are of three negatives developed with COFFE and LAUNDRY POWER + SOFTENER. Why you may ask. Why not? :D A couple of weeks ago me and Stanley had to try after I found a blog that showed us how to develop the film with those ingredients. The blog actually said that we had to use Washing Soda Crystals and coffe powder. But we couldnt find any Soda Crystals so we tried to find Softener powder, which didnt seem to exist, so we ended up with laundry powder that came with softener. Here is the result:

(this isnt scanned images of the negs, so bare in mind that the negs actually look a bit better than this, amazing that it worked at all though)

Outro (sleep tight)

I am finally finished with my design for my coming website I'm doing for my Communications-class. Just some small adjustments left. And this is my first attempt in doing a website design for several years , but i'm pretty satisfied anyway :). I tried to make it as simple as possible, didnt want anything fancy for my portfolio-site. Now I just have to create it in Dreamweaver, but thats another story.

Last Friday me and some friends were at Karin's place. She and her friends have an awesome house, with a pool n stuff. Imagine yourself a house in LA or something, with the typical pool everybody swims in, except that nobody was swimming in it..except a pair of flip flops, a plastic duck and a beer bottle.. but anyway!

Its now 6am, time to sleep a few hours and then wake up and write whyy i chose to design my website like i did, and then send it in.

I would love to hear some feedback on the website :)

PS: Kent's new album has arrived! I think it takes a couple of "listen troughs" (?!) before it's great, but it has a lot of good songs on it and a different sound from the last album, I love the synths!

I ordered the Limited Edition-album, it's gonna be fun to see that.. when I get home to Sweden :O

EDIT:

Started on this pic yesterday inbetween doing my homepage design. Made it just for fun though and got it finished today. When I think of it, it could serve as a business card! Awesome!

We're all wearing masks

Finally im done. It took a long time to first develop and then print the pictures. Then I scanned the negatives and processed them. The first three pictures are the ones I handed in for my photo work assignment. I made a test picture a couple of weeks ago to get a feeling of what I wanted and it turned out pretty much the same.

My teacher really liked them so I'm really satisfied with the pictures considering I lost half a roll of film with the best pictures on them... Stupid camera :p..

But anyway, here they are:

I'm lying Under the Milky Way with music from Solaris

The "Angel"-drawing from my notebook, the background is from a cardboard-sheet I got in my room. Thanks to Carro S. for the disease-names and inspiration :).

Todays shoot went ok, but I'm really unsatisfied with the entiry idea so I'm gonna go into the city tomorrow and shoot the last eight pics on the roll and hopefully find something interesting that I can use and at least get a credit pass.

Tomorrow I have to hand in an application form about living here next year and during the summer break. It's summer here soon, so weird :S. But yeah anyway, I'm gonna live here for next semester but try to move out after a month or so coz Im pretty sick of this prison cell! Gah!

I also hope that I will get an answer from the Student Exchange people. I sent them an email last friday about studying abroad in Hongkong or..JAPAN! :D

I can't wait to go!! I have been dreaming about Japan all weekend. I think it's pretty hard though to go there and study the stuff I study here coz they dont have so many schools that teach in english. But, hope for the best and maybe they got something I could do there. I would be happy just to be living there and doing nothing :)... (and it maybe sounds weird that I can't wait to go to another country when I'm actually in frikkin australia buuut.. Yeah that's the way it is, I have absolutely nothing against Australia :). But if I can get a chance to go to my dream country I'm taking it).

Last night me and Bei watched Donnie Darko - The Directors cut. The first time I thought it wasnt as good as the original studi cut but, wow. I got so impressed by the movie again. It was a little easier to understand this time when you could read the text from the book Grandma Death wrote and the new/switched around music was pretty good also. But I really miss The Killing moon from the original cut in the beginning of the movie. I also think they have improved the cutting a bit and the audio and visual effects. This version also got more scenes for other characters, as for example, Donnies shrink, his parents and his relation to his sister which gives them a bit more depth.

After that we had a loong talk about everything and a little more, which I really needed, got in better mood after that, thanks Bei!

Needle in the hay

From a drawing and some photos...

Using a green ruler and a redfilter.

Tonight, was, crap. But I talked to my old friend Åsa on skype which was fun. Havent talked for such a long time, I miss her. What else did I do? I watched Night at the museum and Royal Tenenbaums again! I really wanted to watch Escape from New York but I just wasnt in the mood. I wasnt in the mood for anything actually... Dont know why I just get like that sometimes down here. But I got some pics done in PS, just for fun though. Tomorrow I'm gonna develop the pictures from yesterday.

 I Hagnestahill blinkar TV-ljusen
Jag gör vad jag kan
Drömmer mig bort
I Hagnesta hill
Bland dem identiska husen
Rycker vi till
Reklamen avbryts för sport

Ingenting
Först kom ingenting
Sen kom ingenting
Sen kom ingenting
Men ingenting är (ingenting, inget, inget)
Ja, ingenting

Dem jävlarna tog oss en efter en
Dem ljög och bedrog oss med sanningen
Dem jävlarna tog min älskling där
Från krönet av kullen kan jag se
Min förlorade värld

Jag ska göra nånting
Jag ska slå er med häpnad
Gå över en gräns
Jag ska bryta mig ut
Jag älskar dig så
Som att vara beväpnad
Och under belägring
Kan jag skjuta dig ut

Ingenting
Först kom ingenting
Sen kom ingenting
Sen kom ingenting
Men ingenting är (ingenting, inget, inget)
Ja, ingenting

Dem jävlarna tog oss en efter en
Dem ljög och bedrog oss med sanningen
Dem jävlarna tog min älskling där

Everything else disappeared... except the music

Short translation: I was just gonna practise a bit on doing a magazine layout. But I took the change do to a blog post of it also haha. The photoshoot was canceled yesterday coz one of my models was sick unfortunatly. But no worries, we shot today instead. Unfortunatley we went a little late and missed some of the georgous light at around 5-6pm. Gonna develop the pictures this weekend to see if they are all crap or not. But i think i got som pretty good pictures.

I used a black&white Ilford Hp-5 ISO 400 roll and used a red filter to make it more contrasty, coz I love contrast :)..

Joakim and Phoebe was the models again, and they got to wear cool white masks :D. Naufal helped me by taking some behind-the-scenes-pics! :D Gonna shoot the second picture in the weekend if everybody got the time, they all got their own assignments to do aswell.

After that me and Phoebe went to one of the best korean places in town. We ordered dumplings, honey chicken and some kind of fried rice. I tried a really good wine that was called Jail Bird. It tasted like apple juice but it was wine haha.

It's not so much time left on this semester, just four weeks left. Times move fast and then i will be back home in sweden again...

(then i talk a little bit about the design of the layout haha,..)

Sorry for the short translation but i'm really tired and going to bed now! :)

It's okay...

"THERE IS AN IDEA OF ******: SOME KIND OF ABSTRACTION.
BUT THERE IS NO REAL ME, JUST AN ENTITY, SOMETHING ILLUSORY..."

Correction fluid+paper. Invert in PS. Tadaa!

Today me and PaigeoOo went to Ikea. I really needed some swedish way of life haha. I bought some candy, meatballs, strawberry jam, a tooth brush cup, light bulbs, a tea(sil?), potato sallad and a cool looking box with two drawers.

School has started again after two weeks of joy and playtime (and schoolworktime). It feels kinda crappy. More assignments and a little more stress. Yay!

But this weekend was fun, me and some friends were at Perth Royal Show, which is like Grön Lund but bigger and they have more stuff of everything. Like shows and they sell all kind of different stuff. I went on a "Fritt Fall" for the first time. Wow what a thrill. It went so fast!

We enjoyed the whole day there. The sun was burning and we walked around alot so I got really tired and I burnt my nose haha. It was all red when I came home haha, Rudolf med röda mulen sort of :p.

Actually, I have never really enjoyed amusement parks. I must miss some kind of sympatic emotion normal people have for these kinds of stuff. Clowns for example, are just scary, and the rides that goes round and round is just not my sort of thing. And I dont mean the Ferris wheel, I mean the stuff that goes round-and-round-until-you-puke--kind of stuff.

The place is also packed with annoying people who try to sell you all sort of crap to you. Another thing that's scary, is like happy happy children pling plong music. Teletubbies stuff! Brrrr I get the shivers haha. But, I really enjoyed the company so it was a really nice day after all :). we also went on those boat-down-the-waterfall-rides. That was so fun! We got soaked but it was worth it and kind of nice considering the heat.

I will update with a link to the pictures in the week.

Speaking of nothing. Here is some everyday erotics.

I have found a really cool magazine that I think I would like really much. It's called CREATIVE - Australian Creative - Inspiration for creative proffesionals. How can it not be good?!

Tomorrow I have another photoshoot for Photo Work. One of the pictures is gonna look like this picture I took on one of the locations I'm gonna use. Phoebe and Joakim is going to be my models again but this time they will wear masks haha, they are gonna look so evil, I love masks... :p

We'll see how it turns out...
